Just learned something about cell phones and thought I would share with all of you just in case you didn't know.
Did you know that the emergency number world-side is 112? So, if you are away from home and traveling, just remember 112 and you will be connected to the emergency number for that area or country. Never know when you might need to know this.
This one is a goodie to remember as long as there is someone at your house. If you lock your keys in your car (you need to have a car that has a key-less entry), have a spare key pad at home. Just call home from your cell phone. Have the person at home, click unlock door into the home phone while you hold the cell phone no more than a foot from the car and your car will unlock.
Isn't that terrific?Don't need onstar as long as there is someone home that knows where the extra remote for the car is located. You might want to practice this before that big day arrives. I am told that the distance you are located from home makes no difference and this also works for trunk access, too.
According to Alan Taylor and Bill Gassett (see comments below) unlocking the car via cell phone and home phone does not work. If anyone has found this to work, please let us know by commenting below. What a life saver that would be if in deed it did work. Thanks guys for letting us know.
Don't you just hate it when you run out of battery life on your cell?Maybe you forgot your charger or your away from the car...there is still life in that cell phone. Press *3370# . Your cell phone has a reserve that many of us did not know existed. You will have a 50% increase in your battery which can get you out of a tight jamb. When charging your phone, the reserve will also charge. Isn't this grand?
Would you like to be part of something that if we all did, cell phones would never be stolen? Wishful thinking, hugh? Maybe you might want to make sure that whoever steals your phone can not ever use it nor sell it. That's probably more realistic. Here is what you do. You need to know what your serial number is...if you don't, then just put in *#06# a 15 digit number will appear. Put that number in a safe place and if you lose your phone or if it's stolen then call your cell phone service provider, give them the 15 digit number and your phone will be blocked even if the thief changes the SIM card.
Do you get charged everytime you dial 411 on your cell phone? Want to know a way to never have to pay for information again? Just dial 800-FREE-411 or 800-373-3411 and never pay to find out a number again from your cell phone.
Here's another great one for those who are at a store and want to know if you are getting a good deal on a product or not...just dial 1-888-FRUCALL, then enter the product bar-code and the service will tell you what the product is and what other merchant's are charging. That saves you a lot of time and trouble.
Hey, if there is something more about our cell phones that you know and would like to share, please do. I always love finding out new things especially when they save money and time.
The tip about the world-wide emergency number 112 is pretty cool.
I've tried the back-up battery one on my Treo 650, and nothing happened. I'm wondering if some of these are not applicable to palms.
