Steps for Managing Poor Performance:

  1. Define the Problem
  2. Document the Problem
  3. Address it Directly
  4. Make a SMART plan: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound plan.  Know what needs to change and how you plan on changing it.  Note the consequences of not following corrective behavior
  5. Follow Up!

Facing problems honestly and thoroughly is the only way. Hiding your head in the sand, running for cover, or blaming everyone else is never the answer.
