A True Sign You Are Paying Attention To A Client

By

Photobomb DogIn human communication there is an unquestionable sign you are PAYING ATTENTION and have interest in your client, or even a personal relationship.

Eye contact.

Not a fixated never flinching stare, but a warm eyeball to eyeball look. EVEN DOGS have this down with a biscuit or food in your hand. Brains and hearts are CONNECTED.

Maintain eye contact with another to relate to the max. Put the distraction of the smartphone DOWN. Things going to it will WAIT. And remember little dogs want that biscuit bad too haha.

Gary- I love that picture!!! You're right about maintaining eye contact.  Don't send the message that you don't care by staring off at someone else or your smartphone.

You can learn a lot from your dog about this behavior, however, if you only have cats, not so much Gary Woltal. I give both of these actors a virtual treat.

Hello Gary, this are wise words indeed.

I remember being at a closing with someone who could not look at anyone around the table because the iPad was beckoning. I knew this person well, and wanted to walk around the table and pinch her.... like my friend used to do when her kids were being bad in church.... A little pinch to get their attention. Instead I just watched, fascinated by the lack of interest in what was going on in the room.

We are often overlooked at closings here because both the buyers attorney and sellers attorney are there to run things. We are there to answer questions, or show support, because it is the right thing to do. So at least LOOK interested! And then I pick up my bone at the end of the closing.... I would be so embarrassed to be handed my check if I spent all my time on my phone or iPad....

WE need to practice this a lot more...starting with family so it becomes just automatic.

Eye contact is so important and why I get so aggravated when people play with their phones when I am talking with them.

I love that picture.  Those dogs are focused on the task at hand.  My boys give me 100% attention when I ask them if they would like a biscuit.
