Not Only Was the Toilet Lid up But….

Come on guys... if you want to sell your home would it not be a good idea to clean it first?

I was going through the listings this afternoon trying to find the perfect home for my client… when I came across a cozy cottage in their price range.

The entire home screamed I have no room please don’t bring anything else in here!  Literally every nook and cranny had some kind of item that needed to be stored or pitched! Each and every picture was like a where's Waldo scene.

The picture that finally made me laugh out loud was of the bathroom there was mold and spider webs on all the walls and the door. Not only was the toilet lid up but someone had recently used it and not flushed it.

If you want to sell your home you are going to have to clean it.

Was it a current rental? Sounds like something that tenants who don't want to move would do.

OK, wait just one minute there pardner... the PHOTO in the MLS showed the "used" toilet?

HA!

I have a favorite photo of a toilet I saw in a home. I hate to steal your thunder... but I just have to share. Gives a whole new meaning to the concept of the throne...

best toilet photo

Sussie, If I lived like that I would not want anyone in my home. I live in CA which has a serious drought. Currently my toilet is not flushed as I am conserving water. If my home were listed for sale ... it would flushed.

Andrea Swiedler , I haven't seen tht one yet. Hi Sussie Sutton , At least it didn't have a plastic banner across the seat saying it has been Winterized!  Or  did it?

Sussie - Gross. I wonder who took the listing on this, and what they discussed with the home seller at the time of listing the home. Obviously the conversation never got to "clean your home and flush the toilet before we take photos".

Oh my gosh. You would think sellers would have more common sense then that. This is kind of funny, Sussie. I hope you find the perfect place for your buyers.

What kind of agent would post that kind of picture? And why didn't the agent flush the toilet before taking the picture? Maybe two nutcases there: the seller AND the agent.

We had a tenant once who always kept his house neat and tidy - unless he knew in advance that it would be shown. Then it was dirty clothes, newspapers, etc. all over the living room - dirty dishes all over the kitchen - and an unflushed toilet.

We learned quickly to direct the potential buyers toward the kitchen while we slipped into the bathroom to flush and shut the lid.

Good morning Sussie. I am amazed at the number of unprofessional photos that I see on the local MLS. Talk about doing an injustice.

Robert (Vegas Bob) Swetz No VB it was a resale! I was thinking it may have been a divorced spouse living there.

Andrea Swiedler that is so rich... sitting on Satan's head! At least the place was clean.

Kathleen Daniels I can understand a drought! But my goodness were are floating out here!

No Larry Johnston.... it did not have a winterized banner. I don't really understand the need for that here in our part of Texas... as we rarely have freezing weather so server that it will bust pipes.

William Feela.... this was totally disgusting. The Code guys should know about this place... but I am not turning them in.

Troy Erickson I was thinking the same thing. Why would an agent let these pictures get on the market... the home was not a foreclosure or short sale either.

Debbie Laity I ought to start a blog or a book of just a single picture from some of these homes. It would be titled.... "So You Thought You Were Going to Get Top Dollar for Your Home:.

Marte Cliff... That is what I call team work. I can see why he would do that too.

Michale Thornton... it is very funny and yet it is not.

That is crazy Sussie. Someone will need a lot of imagination to see past all the "CRAP", but most likely someone will. At some price there is a customer for everything.
