We binged Breaking Bad a few months ago.
If you haven't seen the show yet, it was a tremendous series featuring science teacher Walter White who, diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, decided to take on a less than traditional way to provide for his family in his death. The characters are well developed and the dialogue is incredibly crisp. Everything about the show was, in our opinions, fantastic.
Breaking Bad also gave us plenty of advice for our real estate business:
Passion is everything. Walter fully committed to his business and became the best of the best. When you're helping a client to buy or sell a home, you have to give it your full energy and enthusiasm.
Capitalize on the strengths of your teammates. On Breaking Bad, Walter knows the chemistry and Jesse knows the business. Wayne is the "steak" and Jean is the "sizzle" in our team. He knows the business ins and outs and she knows the marketing. We rarely cross those lines.
Build a strong network. In order for Walter and Jesse to hit the big time, they had to develop a strong relationships with Gustavo and Saul and many others to help them along the way. We have a solid network of providers - real estate attorneys, inspectors, mortgage providers - that help form the foundation of our customer service.
Provide the best product. Walter's blue meth became his signature and he consistently refused to accept less than the best product posible. Everyone on his supply chain knew his product by its quality. Successful real estate agents provide quality service which is unparalleled. People call us because we really are the best.
