The city of San Ramon provides many opportunities for our youth to engage in extraordinary activities during Spring Break. It’s right around the corner, so be sure to sign up soon if you haven’t already! Below are enriching camps that the city has to offer:

Skyhawks Flag Football Camp
Instructor: Skyhawks Sports Academy
Engage your child into flag football and introduce them to “America’s favorite sport”!  Kids will learn skills in a positive and fun way while learning football fundamentals such as catching, passing and defense. At the end of the week there will be the Skyhawks Super Bowl, which gives campers a way to showcase what they’ve learned. Participants should bring a couple snacks, water, sunscreen, and wear appropriate clothing/shoes. All kids will receive a football, shirt, and player evaluation. The ratio of participant to coach is about 12 to 1.

Skyhawks Cheerleading Camp
Instructor: Skyhawks Sports Academy
This program teaches necessary skills to lead crowds in supporting their home team! Each cheerleader will learn the proper hand, body & jumping techniques (no stunting – it is an entry level program). This fun-filled week will end with a final choreographed performance. Cheerleading Requirements: All participants receive a shirt, pom-poms, and merit award. They should bring two snacks, appropriate clothing, water, running shoes & sunscreen. Participant-to-coach ratio is about 10 to 1.

Skyhawks Multi-Sport Spring Break Camp
Instructor: Skyhawks Sports Academy
Kickball, Dodgeball, Capture the Flag! All of your favorite games have been combined into a Multi-Sport camp! Your young athlete will learn the rules of the game, team strategy, sportsmanship & teamwork in an action-packed program. Kids have the option to come an hour ahead for a supervised lunch.

New! San Ramon Soccer Club Soccer Spring Break Camp
Instructor: San Ramon Soccer Club Coaches
In this 5 day camp campers will learn to develop their skills, utilize tactics, go through drills and games to learn and expand their soccer knowledge. The highly qualified coaches of the  San Ramon Soccer Club will direct them.  These basic fundamentals of the game are taught in a fun and safe environment. The week’s schedule: Monday – skills & dribbling, Tuesday – passing, Wednesday – shooting, Thursday & Friday – scrimmage. Each attendee will receive a soccer camp shirt!

On The Ball Sports Basketball Camp
Instructor: On The Ball Sports
College basketball coach Justin Carter and his talented staff will direct this camp. Coach Carter has 16 years of coaching experience with 12 years at the collegiate level! He will bring a wealth of knowledge to this program. They will cover defense & offense concepts with 3V3 and 5V5 games. Every day they will learn drills, play games, and participants will receive a shirt at the end of camp.

On The Ball Sports Volleyball Camp
Instructor: On The Ball Sports
Former Division 1 volleyball player at Brigham Young University, Kathy Higbee, will be directing this week long volleyball camp. Coach Higbee has amazing experience playing at the high school and collegiate levels. Focusing on key concepts, skill development and teamwork, participants will have a blast! Current and former high school players will also teach the players in a focused 8 to 1 ratio.

Let’s Make Movies! Video Production Spring Break Camp
Instructor: Bart Cox
Working in small video production groups, participants will learn the basics of movie-making! This active, hands-on class will teach kids to learn all the steps in the process such as creating a storyboard, filming a scene and editing using programs on a laptop. To begin the class, they will start on an action film that is pre-storyboarded into 18 shots. They will learn different filming techniques and use varying camera angles. Next, they will create either at TV commercial, music video, or movie trailer and learn to use the “green screen” special-effect technique. There will be a $15 materials fee and everyone will receive a DVD of their project.

We Love to Paint! Spring Break Camp
Instructor: Sharon Barker
In this program, kids will have a blast creating and painting projects on paper, boxes, foam, and cardboard. This class involves tools such as corks, bubble wrap, forks, pasta, tissue, glitter, and flouresent, shiny, and foamy paint! Reminiscent of the season, most of the projects will involve elements in Spring such as birds, flowers trees, etc. Parents won’t see anything, until last day where they will host their very own art show for everyone to see!  If your kid loves to be creative and make art, shit is the class for them! There is a $25 materials fee.

The Parks & Community Services Department offers a variety of after school enrichment classes for families in San Ramon. Through the 11 different elementary schools, these after school enrichment programs have proven to benefit the children, your family and the community! Over the course of their lifetime, children who take after school programs have proven to have better social skills, improved test scores, and stay out of trouble!
