Licensed Associate Broker with a 20+ career in Radio & Voice Overs
Like so many women and some men, I changed my name when I married. In most cases, this is not a big deal. Many people hyphenate their name making it easy for friends to track them down.
In my case however, it was a bit of an identity crisis
For 20++ years, I had a radio career. I was 17 years old when I landed my first radio job, and it was a fluke. I was a Music/Undecided major in college and saw a handwritten sign that read,
"Can you pronounces these names: Igor Stravinsky, Chopin, Tchaikovsky & DeBussy? Then we have a job for you!"
I earned seven dollars an hour spinning records and turning off the station transmitter at midnight. It was awesome! I went on to work at several top radio stations in Washington DC . I also spent six years at the Voice of America.
The real challenge came about four years ago when I joined Buyer's Edge in Bethesda Maryland. I became a licensed Realtor and then an Associate Broker licensed in Virginia, Maryland & Washington DC. I am also a member of the National Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents The challenge is having two names for work. While still doing voice overs, I use my maiden name, Victoria Ray but in real estate it's Victoria Henderson or Victoria Ray-Henderson.
In an effort to stay connected to my contacts from years of radio, I updated my voice over website, VictoriaRay.com and included my YouTube channel for real estate. I am finding more ways to overlap these careers and having some fun in the process. I think my identity crisis is over!
