Michael Roberts is a 50-year old veteran who wants to raise public awareness for other U.S. veterans. He lives in Waupaca, Wisconsin and he's started a walk that will total approximately 8,992 miles over nine months.
His goal is to walk 40 miles per day with a 50-pound backpack with his dog, named Boots. I caught this on CNN this morning and it was touching. A group of people, some of them veterans, have joined up and are walking portions with him.
This may remind us of the movie, Forrest Gump. The difference is, if I remember correctly, Forrest started running because his girl broke his heart. Michael Roberts is walking for real and it's for all veterans.

Here's a video from a Wisconsin tv station.
The Go Fund Me website has a page setup for people wanting to donate. Often times I see things like this, say yeah I should donate then don't get around to it. This time, I was so moved I went to the computer right away to make sure I got it done.
Note: This isn't a not-for-profit entity. Donating money to Michael Roberts will not provide you with a tax deduction. This is something to do if you just want to help him out.
