Desperate? You should be.

Desperate? You should be.Desperate? You should be. Desperation is not normally a good place to be. So many agents are desperate for the next listing, the next closing, the next client and this is a never ending circle of doom.  Desperation is the act of giving up hope. It is the feeling of having no hope and you would think this as a bad thing and it is for the most part.

Desperation is not bad when you the goal is to be desperate to be the best agent/Realtor® you can be.  The focus on being the best takes away all real desperation because you don't need this hopeless feeling to obtain skills and techinques. What you need is focus on the right things.  Focusing on building a database and in communicating on a daily basis with those in your database about information they need and want.  If you are not communicating with your database in this manner you will be deperate Client testimonialfor listings and closing. If you do systematically wake up and find and deliver information about the market that is of value to your clients and prospects you will become top of mind for them in all real estate needs.

Average agents lump along in a desperation spiral and quite often never make it out of that death sprial. But the agent/Realtor® who is deperate to be the best agent every single day will draw clients and prostpects to them in abundant matter.  So you have a question to ask yourself, what do you really want?  This is always followed by the second question, what I am willing to do right now to make this difference in my life and the lives of the people in the communities I serve. There is always a choice and yours right now is Desperate? You should be.

Good Monday morning Larry Lawfer -

It's never a good thing for any professional to let desperation be seen in their actions or words.  Wishing you a very productive week ahead in and out of real estate.

Larry, displaying desperate behavior may be a turn off to many, while it is perfectly OK to have that mindset and take steps accordingly, not a good idea to show it to our prospective buyers and sellers.

Thinking outside the box

Larry, I try not to paint myself into a corner with no way out.

Analyzing the problem before taking action could reduce much of the resulting desperation.

Great post, Thank you.

Desperation will often lead to actions that aren't always beneficial in the end, but in this business, it is difficult to not worry, which often leads to desperation.

Once an agent gets desperate I feel like the battle is already lost. We all know that one month's worth of planting set's up the next month and so on. Well once you hit desperation mode that means you have few seeds in the ground and it's going to be a long cold hungry winter that hopefully doesn't completely ruin you.

By the comments here I see, or at least I think that several of you did not read the whole blog and just took the bait on the opening salvo.  Desperation of any sort is no way to be.  My point is and was if you are desperate, be desperate to be the best Realtor® you can be and that will lead you to the place you want to be.

Thanks John McCormack I appreciate you commenting.

Beth Atalay you are so right deperation and overwhelmed are never good emotions that was the point of the blog. Be the best agent and all else will follow.

Wayne Martin I love the aliteration. Thanks.

Shuchi Agrawal I am beginning to think my metaphor did not work, so many miscontrued the point.

Richie Alan Naggar author PEARLS FOR THE SOUL .com books I like combining the willfulness to this emotion, they do go hand in hand.

Bob Publicover so many agents back themselves into this realm through inaction. I am saying take action to do your best. Thanks for your comment.

Brian England if we are to worry, let's worry about being the best we can be. Thank you for stopping by.

Nicole Doty - Gilbert Real Estate Expert Thank you for stopping by, no desperation is the best focus.

Larry -  I always believe in doing the right thing because you believe in it.  Desperation comes from not being aligned to your task or being over your head.  When you are desperate others feel it and they don't want to do business with you.

Grant Schneider on second and third thoughts about the headline of this that was done to put a twist on what I am really saying I realize I could have done a better job with the title. The point is that you, as a professional must focus on what you can control and that is your own professional actions. Thanks, as always for your thoughtful comments.
