Top picks for San Antonio Restaurants-

When I help buyers from out of town find their new homes, one of the most frequent questions I get asked is "What is your favorite restaurant?"  That is a loaded question!  San Antonio has plenty to choose from in that department.  However, since I live in the North Central part of San Antonio, I am most familiar with the restaurants that are close to me.

Here are some of my personal favorites:

INSIDE 1604
Pam's Patio - 11826 Wurzbach (Corner of Wurzbach and Lockehille Selma)  Great  place for lunch. Their homes soups, salads and desserts are to die for. My favorite sandwich is Alex's Big Rip, my favorite soup is their Poblano Cream Soup and favorite dessert is Italian Cream Cake. They are also open on Friday and Saturday night with a more upscale menu for dinner on the patio.

Milano's - right around the corner from Pam's.  Great Italian food and entrees.  Nice, quiet place for lunch or dinner with cloth tablecloths. Top off your evening with a live performance at the Stohli Playhouse right around the corner.

Broadway Daily Bread - 5011 Dezavala (Across from Clark HS) Here are some great sandwiches on homemade bread.  They also have scrumptious breakfast items - my personal favorite is the cranberry muffin.  Favorite dessert here is the chocolate muffin.

Lucianos - (15614 Huebner - close to Churchill Estates)  I became their biggest fan when I was on my way to a listing appointment and I was driving down Huebner with an 8 minute window for lunch.  I dropped in and picked up a slice of veggie pizza and a soda. It was later in the afternoon (around 1:30) so there was no line. I was in and out of there in less than 8 minutes and the pizza was excellent!

The Melting Pot - my friends Duane and Denise will give you the VIP treatment.  A fun place for an upscale dining experience.  Their fondue menu includes appetizers, entrees, and then a special chocolate pot for dipping dessert items. Corner of Bitters and Blanco.

STONE OAK AREA

BIGZ Burgers - (outside loop 1604 at the corner of Bitters and 1604)  - nice place for a burger.  The large outdoor dining area in the back has a play area for the kids.

Silo's Elevated Cusine - 434 N loop 1604 - (inside the loop between Blanco and 281) Wonderful entrees - if you are thrifty like me - try them for lunch! My personal favorite is the Pecan Crusted Chicken that is served on a bed of wild rice with some kind of (low calorie I am sure) sauce. Since it is a classy place,  I try not to turn the bowl up and drink the sauce when I am through.

Jims - locations all over town - great breakfast items and tortilla soup

Taipei - 18808 Stone Oak or 221 NW Military - Great Chinese food.  I like the General Tso's - check menu for lunch, early bird, or nightly specials.

Stonewerks  -  love their pepper burger with a veggie pattie.

OK - One more -  Tip Top Café - 2814 Fredericksburg - Ok so this is not really in my neighborhood and not my favorite but my husband raves about this place. It is like an old café that your grandma went to - chicken fried steak, personal service, and home made pies.  A San Antonio Institution.

Feel free to leave your comments/suggestions - I love trying new places.

Oops  - I haven't even started on Mexican Food - I'll save that for another day.............
