April 7th is National Beer Day. Why is National Beer Day celebrated on April 7th? This date marks the end of Prohibition when citizens were once again allowed to buy, sell, and consume alcohol after a twelve year ban. Also known as the Cullen-Harrison Act which was signed in to law by President Roosevelt on March 22, 1933 but officially went in to effect on April 7th of that year.
So if you are a brother of the brew, a sultan of suds, or a connoisseur of craft beer, pull up a stool because today is your day! It is estimated that there are over 3,000 breweries in the United States alone ranging from giants in the industry to local craft beer makers. These breweries are responsible for making close to 200 million barrels of beer every year.
