Happiest City In America

The Happiest City In America?

 Sarasota, FL, Of Course!

What a pleasant surprise to sit down with a cup of coffee this morning and read in today's paper that the North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton metro area has been named as the Number 1 "Happiest City in America" by the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index.  Sarasota ranked Number 1 for overall well-being of the 100 largest metropolitan areas in the US.  Even ahead of Honolulu which ranked Number 1 last year.

The Sarasota Area rank was based on 15 minute interviews with 450 randomly selected residents who answered 55 survey questions.  The ranking was based on five areas of well-being:  physical, social, financial, community and purpose.  Don't believe  it?  Read the article in the Herald-Tribune!

Maybe a surprise to read it in the paper this morning, but something those of us who live here have known for years.  The quality of life here in Sarasota does make this the "Happiest City In America".  I've been a Florida resident since 1974.  I have lived in several cities in the state and visited many others.  I purchased a home in the Sarasota Area in 2005 and moved here in 2011.  I can honestly say I wish I had moved here 30 years ago.  So really, the article in today's Herald-Tribune was no surprise to me.  Simply validation of something I've felt since the moment I arrived.

Sarasota IS the "Happiest City In America"!

Hi Keith Kropp , Now I know why my cousin has lived there for years.  I was happy when I visited him.
