The Master Bathroom that came out of the closet.

Yes, literally out of the closet.  Here is the before (closet) photo.

Can you say total gut job.  This master bedroom had great space but needed a master bath and and of course it also needed the paneling to be removed.  I was honored to take on the task of designing the new bathroom.

This Ranch Style home was built in the 70's and  needed a complete update.  All the paneling removed, hardwood floors installed and a master bath created out of a closet.  Here are the results...

I decided to give this space a little touch of elegance and at the same time I wanted something unique for this space. The carpet/ linoleum was replaced with beautiful Travertine stone flooring, and custom storage added behind the tub/shower combination.  I designed a beautiful his and her vanity complete with custom cherry cabinetry, and installed granite counter-tops with vessel bowls.   I purchased the granite and vessel bowls at a Marble and Granite auction. Our Stage It Now team (which includes my amazing talented husband) built the custom cabinets, and cut and installed the granite (don't try this at home, special tools required).  As you can see, there is an inlay of granite on the half wall separating the toilet from the vanity and also on top of the four drawer cabinet. With all of these wonderful features in place, I staged this space with elegant towels (not pictured), some baskets and spa salts to complete this amazing spa retreat!

As stagers, I think we are often afraid of making too many suggestions to our clients.  Especially the suggestions that go beyond paint and carpet.  Perhaps, it is because we want them to believe that staging can make the most improved differences and in most cases that is true.  However, in some cases, homes have to be updated in order to compete in this Real Eastate market.  Don't be afraid, be ready.  Your client will love your honesty and will refer more business your way, especially when they receive that contract!

This project was so much fun that I can't wait to do another one!

Great improvement on this home.  Sometimes sellers are more than willing to do updates that will reap them great benefits in shorter days on the market and more money at settlement.  Great job!!

You are absolutely correct when you mention that Stagers sometimes need to go above and beyond carpet and paint when recommending or orchestrating changes to a client's home to make it more marketable.  I think that is one of my competitive advantages here in Omaha.  Right now I am working on a client's home where we traded up the kitchen and bath countertops for granite, new tile flooring and backsplash in kitchen and new light fixtures and paint throughout.  He will finally be ready for furniture rental in two weeks and I can't wait to see the final product pulled together.

You did a great job on that bathroom!  Was that the first you have redesigned?  What kind of experience or other expertise did you rely on for the actual construction design?

Tori Lynn -  My husband and I have been in the custom home industry for over 20 years(He is a builder).  I have had the pleasure of working with him designing projects for over 20 years.  Recently we have been working on investment properties.  I can truly say I have hands on experience. Here is a photo of me painting chocolate brown vinyl. Not so glamours but lots of experience gained!  I guess you can say, I am not affaid to try... Ha!

Kathy- Thank you, that is wornderful!

Great job!  It does get a little nerve racking sometimes telling people they need to make BIG changes, but it can be oh so worth it in the end!
