National Name Yourself Day

When I was in my teens, I told my mom that Tammie wasn't an adult name. I said only kids have the name Tammie. I asked her what people would call me when I got older? She said, "They'll call you Miss Tammie." I thought to myself, "I hope not". Then I moved to Tennessee and guess what they call me...Miss Tammie.

Today I would call myself...Dog Tired. Although my dog isn't tired and he need me to entertain him. 

Sussie - I am not exactly sure what other name I would like to have. I have never really thought about that.

 Good morning Sussie. I'm not exactly sure what I would name myself. I think I will just leave my name like it is.

My name is Margaret (family used to call me Margaret Ellen).  I was thrilled when I left home and could drop the Ellen.  Well, you can imagine the number of people who want to rename me...Peggy, Marge, Maggie...no my name is Margaret, I would say.  Those who persisted would say,"Well, I'm going to call you Peggy".  "I don't like that name," I would say.  They'd still call me Peggy.  So one day, totally annoyed by yet another imbecile who insisted on calling me Peggy or Marge, I changed my name to Maude.  Not just Maude but Maude said with a hard and long New York accent!  It worked.  No one asked me again if I went by another name!  I did this for about a year when I finally got tired of the joke and went back to introducing myself as Margaret.  However,  if people ask me what name beside Margaret I go by, I say Maude...with a hard New York accent.  I love the shocked look.  One even replied that Maude is such a harsh name.  Well, then...call me Margaret!  It's a legacy name, I'm named after two grandmothers and I like the name.  I giggle inside but all they see is a smug smile.  Who knew defending your name is such hard work?
