Thought for Thursday: If you want to reap, you must sow

Happy Spring!

The birds are chirping, the snow is (finally!) gone, and the trees are starting to bud. Everywhere you look are the signs of new growth.

What about when you look at your business? Do you see signs of new growth there, too? If you're hoping for a harvest this autumn, now is the time to plant the seeds.

In Union County, most homes are sold in the summer and autumn. The agents that work those deals didn't just pop into the scene in the summer and autumn. No, they were out there sowing the seeds in the spring. And that's what you need to do this week.

What do you need to do this week?

  • Call or send personal notes to people in your database, asking for referrals.
  • Prospect, prospect, prospect. Call potential leads - expired listings, leads from referral partners, old leads that you haven't followed up on.
  • Introduce yourself while waiting on line at the post office and the bank. Hand out business cards at PTA meetings.
  • Do a large scale mailing to your farm area.

Sow now, or else you won't be reaping later.

Thanks for sharing this blog - you are absolutely right!  These are great ideas.  Have a great day.  To really thrive in this business, you constantly need to promote yourself.  If you stop prospecting, you stop getting clients and your business suffers.

Wayne and Jesn - yep that sums it up.  You only reap what you sow.  And the time to start farming is now!  Excellent post.

I so need to get back to doing a mailing. Had to cut it off last year when there was a big gap between closings.

Have found a lender partner and maybe an insurance agent who will help and I can focus on a couple buildings.

Sow.

Water.

Weed.

Tend.

Nurture.

Harvest.

there is a natural flow to this.
