The National Home Builders Association has announced the most popular features among home buyers which include better energy efficiency and bigger closets.  Interestingly, outdoor kitchens are starting to lose favor among new home buyers.

Here are some of the least likely features that builders say they will include in new homes this year:

The Top 10 home features most likely to be included in a new home this year:

  1. Walk-in closet in master bedroom
  2. Separate laundry room
  3. Low-e windows
  4. Guest room
  5. Energy-star rated appliances
  6. 9-foot ceilings or greater on first floor
  7. Energy-star rated windows
  8. Programmable thermostat
  9. Two-car garage
  10. Granite countertop in kitchen

If you are considering making a move to a new build this year, we have extensive knowledge of the builders and available homes to assist you.  We will help guide through the differences of a new build contract vs. a resale contract so you are aware of the contract contingencies you give up.  There is a myth that if you use a realtor you will pay more for a new builder than going directly to the builder.  That is actually the opposite as a realtor can save you money.  The Gina McKinley Group works with many home builders and will strive to ensure you are protected in a builder contract both financially and in the construction of the home by offering a New Home Construction Warranty worth $595 at no cost to you.  Please contact us today at 480-355-8645 for more information on buying a new build home.
