One of the most important lessons that I learned as a Boy Scout was: Be Prepared.
It's a good motto to go by. Especially for notary signing agents. If you've done this long enough, you have closed loans in the most awkward circumstances, because there is no limit to when and where the borrowers may want to sign their closing documents.
This is usually not a problem. A notary journal or clipboard can be used to write on. Even if the borrower has no furniture at all, notary signing agents can find a way to get the documents signed.
However, adding computer equipment for conducting an eSigning will require something more sturdy than a snack table. This too is no problem for the notary signing agent who comes prepared.
There are a couple of tables that I own that can be used. Occasionally I will notarize documents for someone who is bedridden. Or I'll have a closing in an open area.
Here is one of the tables that I use.
It has a surface that is sturdy enough to support a laptop computer.
This is the other table.
This is what it looks like when it is folded. It has a handle, making it easy to carry.
When it opens, it has enough room to set all of the equipment that I'll need. There is enough space for people to write on too.
Both of these tables are portable enough to fit in the trunk of most cars. If a signing agent knows that they will be doing an eSigning, they can bring it along, just in case.
Because we want to remember that old Boy Scout motto:
Be Prepared.
Good luck.
