Well we are finally out of the cold, I think, and with a beautiful weekend ahead many people are starting to think about Spring, planting, gardens and flowers.
Here’s what’s coming up in May around Columbus:
The Spring Bulb Display happening April 1 through the 30th at the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Located at 1777 East Broad St. in downtown Columbus, the Conservatory will be open Monday through Sunday from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM featuring more than 70,000 tulips, narcissus, crocus, hyacinth and daffodils filling up of the gorgeous gardens and interior courtyards. Their Sculpture Courtyard will feature over 19,000 blooms in every color of the rainbow. The North Courtyard will feature cool hues and pastels and play against the backdrop of evergreens and flowering shrubs.
On Thursday, April 16 from 5:30 PM until 10:00 PM enjoy Bloom! A Springtime Celebration with cocktails, small plates, live entertainment and a tour of the conservatories plant collections.
On Saturday, April 18 from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM is the retired orchid sale. You can shop a large selection of orchid varieties from the orchid exhibit and maybe find a rare treat. Also on Saturday from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM is the Tulips and Tutus. Calling all future ballerinas to this unique event. Where your tutu and make a tulip craft and the Columbus youth ballet will perform at 2:00 PM teaching basic ballet steps among the flowers.
May 2 and 3 is the Central Ohio Folk Festival. Now in its 19th year, this event is sponsored by the Metro Parks featuring over 45 instructional workshops, concerts and life music, dances, children's programs, vendors and more. This is always the first full week in May at the Battelle-Darby Creek Metropark. There will be multiple activities going on throughout the weekend and this is open to the general public with free admission.
