As a consumer trying to find the right place for the right information can be a challenge. So much information is on the internet, understanding how the system works and how to find just what you are looking for can be confusing. Complicated with advertising and misinformation it can be a jungle to get the info and answers that you want and need. If you are looking to buy a home, it is important that you find the right real estate website to search and a real live person to help get you the answers.
Let's begin with a few basics. The major websites that provide some info are not licensed and do not have agents that are associated with them. They buy data that is fed to them from locations. They turn the data that they have into their own system and from that they spit our some sort of formula based info that you see. A good portion of it is not accurate. Nobody monitors the details or the accuracy. Plain and simple, they are in the business to sell to real estate agents and not in the business of selling houses.
The next group of websites are owned by the major real estate brands. These companies have all the information that is provided by all agents in any given area. These sites get the information from the local MLS for that agency. If there are 3 or 333 agents in the office the volume of information is the same. The listings on their sites are all of the MLS
We all know the names of the really big real estate websites out there. NONE of them are owned and operated by real estate agents. The information is forwarded from local Multiple Listing Services and forwarded to many places. Some places that have the data are actual MLS feeds while others are just old and new data harvested from different locations and fed to the public.
If you are out looking to find a home to purchase, it is hard to know where to go and find the most accurate information possible. The local MLS supplies the best data. They don't have the best and most useful places to find the info though. They are not in the business of selling homes as their goal is provide a service to real estate.
