Annie Oakley (August 13, 1860 – November 3, 1926), born Phoebe Ann Mosey, was an American sharpshooter and exhibition shooter. Oakley's "amazing talent"  led to a starring role in Buffalo Bill's Wild West show. Her timely rise to fame[2] allowed her to become one of the first American women to be a "superstar". Oakley also was variously known as "Miss Annie Oakley", "Little Sure Shot", "Watanya Cicilla", "Phoebe Anne Oakley", "Mrs. Annie Oakley", "Mrs. Annie Butler" and "Mrs. Frank Butler". Her death certificate gives her name as "Annie Oakley Butler"

Many people have no idea that wild Bill had a show and that Annie was part of it.

My late great-grandmother saw Annie Oakley and Buffalo Bill.  So did my late great-uncle Tom Fair.  When I was a little kid they told me how this incredible lady could shoot silver dollars out of the air, with a rifle pointed behind her, while looking at a hand-held mirror.

I am honored to have known people who saw Annie Oakley.

I am like Fred Griffin knowing someone who had actually seen her. I had heard it from my grand parent's when I was a little boy. Thanks Linda Ring for honoring her today and bring the attention to an American legend.
