Throw Back Thursday!  Granny's Home

I was going through my pictures and ran across Granny's home. Jeez I miss her.  Her home is for sale right now and in Option Pending. After her death her home was sold to a non relative. (That in itself was a tragedy).

The home was a four-sided red brick house. There were so many fond memories there; many of her great grandchildren want to go into the home one last time to show their children the home.

Granny was a cookie making fend. She always had at least five kinds of cookies stored in the largest reclaimed pickle glass jars. The mail man was always happy to get his cookies for the day after taking her mail.

Afternoons were spent sitting on the side patio sipping coffee or iced tea with a cookie or not. We enjoyed good ole conversations.

My fondest memory was of finding her standing on the roof of her home at about 86 years of age; sweeping the leaves off. That was the last time she got away with that.

The only thing left to say is ... Thank you Granny for teaching me how to make the best gravy in the whole world! My grand kids told me last week, "this gravy is so good you must have put your foot in it!" Which translates that I went all out for a fantabulas flavor. For that I thank you Granny!

i know how you feel, Sussie. I just saw my grandma's sell. She lived there until she was 98. She died four days after her 100th birthday. Although I must say, my grandma wasn't able to get on the roof of her two story house to clean off the leaves. She couldn't even have done that if if was a one story house. Thanks for sharing your story.

I used AR to find an agent in the area to help sell her home. I did find someone great that worked with my dad to get this done.

That's what I left out in my comment to you, Sussie. Those memories are priceless. I was practically raised in that house. I was sick as an infant and my mom took me to grandma's house. I had convulsions. My grandma put me in a sink of cold water. The doctor came over. That was towards the end of them making house calls.

This is my dad's parent's house we are talking about. He was two years old when they moved there. My grandparents added on and made this a really nice home. It was popular on the market. My dad became a single parent and his parents took over to help him raise me. I spent almost as much time in that house as I did in my dad's house. It was a home to me. I didn't travel back to see it before it sold. I couldn't bare to see it empty of my grandma's things.

A number of years back, I had the opportunity to visit my grandmother's home in Kansas.  I was in awe of how much smaller it looked then.  Much smaller than when I was a child!

I remember my grandma's house and the breeze that flowed through it and her screened porch. I loved her pot roast. Love these TT memories.

I too have fond memories of my grandparent's home. She sold it soon after my grandfather passed and moved in with my Mom. Mom still has much of her furniture but it's not the same.

Sussie Sutton I too remember and miss my Grandmom's house. She lived in a different city so I only saw her house once or twice a year, but the memories will always be with me. No toys there, but she was a great cook.
