Concerned About Pesticides In Your Home?
I have read a lot of blog postings and comments about chemicals used in the home and peoples concerns about how they may affect the families, including pets, health. I totally "get" this as my son has High Functioning Autism and my wife is convinced it is from immunizations he received as an infant/toddler. I do not subscribe to this theory but just the same I respect it.
I do dislike bugs in my home. I do spray a chemical barrier around the exterior of the house 2 to 3 times a year and that stops most insects from entering. However a couple of years ago when I went to take pictures at a new (vacant) listing I saw the following near a ground level glass sliding door.
The product is a "Glue Board". The first one I saw had about a dozen spiders stuck on it and it was gross and scary. As gross and scary as it was I thought man I'm glad those spiders are not crawling anymore.
I have been using them in my own basement ever since. I don't know how the insects that get trapped in them get into the house but I'm glad they are stopped when they hit one of these glue boards. My dog doesn't do steps so I never worry about him stepping in one but at least if he did there are no toxic chemicals that would harm him. My daughter doesn't bring her Guinea Pigs to the basement so no problem there (it surly would be a problem if one of them got into one).
So there you have it, a safe alternative to chemical deterrents in keeping your home bug free.
