Feng Shui Myth Buster: Feng Shui is Only For Those of Asian Decent

Feng Shui (environmental psychology) made it's presence known in America around the 1980's. Yet it was not until 1997, The Metropolitan Institute of Design graduated the first certified accredited class in 1997.

Eighteen years later, the same misconceptions are still being spoken about. There is also talk of a consultant having to be Asian in order to practice or be any good.  So as the community of Feng Shui consultants, experts and masters continues to grow and expand, we have to ask ourselves as a group, are we providing the correct information on why, how, what, where and when Feng Shui is utilized?

I was in a meeting today discussing a potential new project and during our conversation it was said to me, "I thought Feng Shui was only used by those of Asian decent?"

Feng Shui did originate its core principles from Eastern philosophy in Asia but that does not mean it is only practiced there. Another method of Feng Shui was developed in Germany, called Bio-Biology (building biology). Every year a huge Feng shui conference is held in England, the UK has a huge following of Feng shui. My clientele range in all ages, races, religions and professional backgrounds.

Feng Shui is meant to be shared with everyone, everywhere. It's a universal language of peace, tranquility and harmony (simply put). Every one knows how to speak this, some just have to remember and that is our job as consultants and healers. To help guide you back to reconnecting with your environment and self to help you live the most fulfilling life.

That is quite a myth.  I know lots of Asians who know nothing about the art of feng shui and lots of westerners who have mastered it.

Hey Belinda, yes, I have worked with clients from China who said they knew nothing about Feng Shui. So the idea is to never assume anything.  A great lesson in life.

Laura, Universal language ... yes.  What's missing for many is the peace, tranquility and harmony in their life.   I think of matter and energy ... and it does affect us both (+) and (-) ... let the healing and joyful living begin.
