You Might Be From New Jersey If...

... you're insulted when people ask you which EXIT you're from.

... you actually identify yourself by which EXIT you're from.

(That's a real Exit sign on the Garden State Parkway in the pic above...lol, vandalized by a comedian obviously.  It's supposed to say Westfield.)

... you stop for gas outside of New Jersey and wait impatiently for someone to pump your gas, before desperately searching for someone to help you pump your gas.

... you know where to go for the best views of the Manhattan Skyline.

... you know where to go for the best views of Macy's fireworks.

... you can name at least 5 diners in a 5 mile radius.

... you have never said Joisey. Ever.

... you know Metlife Stadium is in New Jersey, and still call it Giants Stadium.

... you know the best pizza is not made in New York.  Anyone who thinks different has obviously never been to New Jersey.

... you've been to the Pine Barrens to search for the Jersey Devil.

... you've been to the 77 ft natural wonder, "Great Falls" in the middle of Paterson.

... you know it's not the beach, it's The Shore. Specifically, Down The Shore.  Atlantic City is Atlantic City, and you probably have a free room available right now.

Thank you Vienna for a little insight to the place of my mothers birth. My uncle owned a few Halmark shops on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. I had only been to AC a couple of times but I always loved it.

Vienna Bello, Fun post about a state I've never spent much time in.  Oregon (my state) and New Jersey are the only states where you don't have to pump your own gas.  I wrote a post about it in 2012.  I would love to see "Great Falls" in the middle of Paterson someday.  Yesterday I hiked past eleven waterfalls in just over a mile, but none were as dramatic as your picture shows.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to share a little about your home and for participating in the ActiveRain contest.

Rick Obst the Great Falls are beautiful! It stinks (pun intended) we somehow picked up the nickname "the armpit of the U.S." when "The Garden State" really is fitting! The Appalachian Trail runs right through us, many waterfalls, farms, the Delaware Water Gap where I've gone camping and kayaking countless times, the shores, the riverwalks, too much to list!! Thanks for running this contest. I had fun writing this!!

The United States has many beautiful places that even many locals don't know about.  I enjoy exploring my neck of the woods and I'm glad that you do the same.  I'm very happy to read and comment on the many entries that have been posted so far.  It has been a fun contest to run and I'm hopeful that many more ActiveRainers will share about their locale.

Larry Johnston   - I went with a friend for a day trip to Philly for cheesesteaks, got lost and stumbled upon this huge castle in the middle of the city. It was the Eastern State Penitentiary! They were open for day tours, it was amazing!!! We never found Pat's or Gino's Famous Cheese Steaks but we found so many cool places, museums, the Liberty Bell. I want to go back and find The Mutter Museum!! An old medical school, now a museum holding some of the weirdest things ever found inside the human body... like a 28 ft tapeworm lol..

And there are a couple schools too, get yourself to Princeton, or if that's not your bag, head to Rutgers.

Claude Labbe  Yes!  Founded in 1746, and home to many Gargoyles carved in the stone! Princeton is fascinating! I wasn't fortunate enough to attend, but I have visited! :-)

Have a great weekend!

I went to the Princeton campus as a visitor; got some great photos of the lions & me.  Not sure it would have been sanctioned by campus security.
