There are many signs of Spring, and most people would associate the first signs of Spring with the blooming of Spring Flowers, which provide us with beautiful colors after a cold gray Winter. For others it may be a specific day on the calender, or when the snow is all gone and the weather becomes warmer. While these are all great reasons to celebrate Spring, for the Souto Family Spring does not arrive until the first time the lawnmower is pull out, and the grass is cut for the first time. This year this happened yesterday. Thursday, April 23rd Was The First Sign Of Spring For The Souto Family.
This year the arrival of Spring for the Souto Family was more than a week earlier than last year. Last year our lawn did not get cut for the first time until May 2. Spring is my favorite time of they year so I hope it sticks around for a few weeks before the heat and humidity of Summer sets in.
Wikipedia states that:
"Spring comes in between the 19th to the 23rd of March and at different times. It changes on a yearly basis because the first official day of spring is the (Spring) Vernal Equinox. This is when the sun is directly above the equator. It rises due East and sets due West and does not do so on the exact same day every year, since the calendar is not exactly 365 precise days every single year."
The definition above may be the official arrival of Spring, but not for the Souto Family. The official sign of Spring for the Souto Family is the sight of the lawnmower for the first time and the smell of fresh cut grass. This year that was yesterday, Thursday, April 23rd. Thursday, April 23rd Was The First Sign Of Spring For The Souto Family!!!
