24 Comments on Watch out for Snakes.
Hi Alan,
My son has a ball python for a pet and while I don't really care to hold him, he is absolutely fascinating to watch. Each summer my son hopes when we go to Eastern WA that he'll find a rattler snake. He actually saw a baby rattler at a rest area last summer somewhere in CA. Everyone was freaking out and my son was saying "wait.... I want to see it, don't hurt it!!" They were able to scoop it up and put it out under a rock.
Alan, I don't even go into the reptile house at the zoo. Call it a healthy respect or FEAR I don't care. To be honest I couldn't tell you the difference a good snake and a bad snake I jsut take off running in hopes that I won't come across another one on my exit! :-)

I totally understand your feelings. I have had many encounters with rattlesnakes. Almost steped on a 6 footer about 5 years ago while dove hunting. Fortunately for me he was spread out and not coiled. I covered a little bit of ground that day in a hurry.
William:
You must be a magnet for these guys. That has to be a record of somekind.
Sandy:
That is a great picture. I have one I should post from one of our trips to Cancun where we visited the Croocaroon. It is a habitate for the aligators. I have a picture of my son surrounded by them.
Don:
I think those reptile houses are a little creepy too. I always if the last guy who fed them remembered to lock them in. I hate seeing empty cages.
Shannon:
Sorry I missed commenting not intentionally. You made me laugh. Where did you get that picture? HAAA!
Jason:
That would be Manor, thanks for the correction. I have made the change in the post. Thanks. See you soon.
Alan you should post the Croocaron picture, my son would love to see it! He really wants to be like Jeff Corwin or Steve Irwin. Makes me a little nervous, but what can I do????? Maybe he'll grow out of it.
Sandy:
I will try to do that. I can't remember if we used the digital camera or a disposible.
Vanessa:
It is true our expansion is bringing us closer to nature than some may want. I would much rather see these guys moved into locations they can thrive rather than see them destroyed. They are amazing creatures in spite of their poisonous bite.
Ann:
I will check out your bug, but maybe if you pick up one of these guys he will take care of your bug.
Lisa:
Good call on the snake kit. I need to carry mine with me as well. You never know when it could come in handy.
Sandy:
I just discovered that we did take them with a disposible. I will try to copy them with a scanner. I did that once before and was so proud of myself, it only took me a week. Ha.
Howdy Alan
How ya doing today.
For folk's that don't know it Texas has Fifteen venomous snakes native to it.
1 coral snake, 3 different copperheads, cottonmouth and
10 different rattlesnakes.
Western Diamondback Rattler
Dale:
Great information. Looks like snakes are all over Texas.
Barbara Jo:
Just think of them as keeping the rat and mice population under control Ha
Children were playing all types of games throughout the area...Luckily for the adults, the children had no aspirations to build their very own log cabin!
Chri:
Ouch! Sorry about that.
Jeff:
What a great picture. Thankfully the family was safe. I almost stepped on a Mohave Rattler in good ole Az. When I was dove hunting a few years ago.
