Jupiter was incorporated in 1925, however the history of this area dates back to 1565, even before the Seminole Indian Wars. The Jupiter lighthouse was built in 1859 at the mouth of the Jupiter Inlet. The area is rich in history with the finding of a 330-year-old Spanish shipwreck and other artifacts that can be viewed at the Florida History Center and Museum on U.S. One. Today Jupiter is still famous for its beautiful beaches, the Loxahatchee River, and the Intracoastal Waterway.
The town enjoys a vibrant cultural life and is the home of Roger Dean Stadium, the spring training facility for the Florida Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals. The Town and County parks also provide recreational facilities for team sports like baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, in addition to an aquatic center and many access ramps for boaters. The town features a well balanced mix of family residential neighborhoods, condominium communities and upscale luxury waterfront communities that attract young families, professionals, retirees and seasonal residents.
For those of you that need a little more elbow room, try Jupiter Farms. This rural setting offers lots starting at 1.25 acres and can go up to 50 plus acre ranches. Jupiter Farms is a growing family area, with homes in the Country Ranch, Mediterranean, or Chalet style. Make sure you bring your boat, R.V. and horses because there is plenty of room.
