Tomorrow my 8 year old (Note: Now she is 10! Blog got lost!) princess will be a 9 year old young lady. She is pure joy. She is full in spirit, makes good grades, makes good choices, she has an adorable freckle-face and she is full of funnies, too. She is also a huge... animal lover.
Like many little kids, she has said, "I want to be a vet." And like many little birthday wishers, she has closed her eyes and said silent prayers for pets for, well, every single special occasion ever. Aaaand like many things in life, she has learned of the reality of over romanticising her... fantasies.
For example...
Pets have to be constantly cared for, bathed, fed, walked, and, well, their poop has to be scooped. As she said, so emphatically, "Ya know? Princess and poop do not really go in the same sentence!" Yes. I am aware. I once asked for and received a pony. The poop was my new problem. I gotcha # kid.
Anyway, Princess has a pet and Mama is off to show another house where the showing instructions were, "Please excuse the mess. Birthday party just finished. Puppy is still learning."
Seriously?
