Greetings!

Have you noticed that you finally have a written offer on your listing, and it finally gets accepted. Then the next email you get from the buyers agent is that she or he is going on vacation. Oye! This has happened a lot receintly and many agents do not hand over their files to other agents. They think they can do most of it themselves before they leave and then leave everything else for you to do.

I am not complaining. I just would like to make some suggestions to those who are leaving town.

1. Hire someone in your transaction department to handle your files.

2. Trade with another agent in the office, and offer to take care of their files when they leave town too.

3. If you vacation alot, hire an assistant or do #1 full time.

That is all I have to say. I hope this is the last one for the year! I know I am being hopeful especially with summer on it's way!

Jan - If that buyers agent is going on vacation, I would expect one of two things to happen. Either they should still be available during their vacation, or they should have someone else take over the file while they are gone. Just leaving all the work to the listing agent is not professional at all.

I wouldn't even imagine going on vacation and leaving my buyers hanging without anyone taking care of the transaction.

Hi. Thanks so much Troy Erickson for the input. Unfortunately many realtors don't trust other realtors with their business.

I think we all should remain professional and make sure everything is taken care of in our absence.
