Earth Day in San Diego
San Diego was alive and active in every part of the county and the downtown and seaboard were bustling too. I don't recall a time that had more activities at one time to celebrate the day.
I started the day attending a giant art festival in Little Italy. Naturally the first thing I did when I arrived by trolley was to head to my favorite pizza place and had an early lunch ( no parking anywhere so I parked in a different part of town and took the trolley.)
This art fest takes over a very large section of Little Italy and it was the biggest show yet. The art vendors love it because people were in the mood to buy and from what I could tell, it must have been very successful. One thing of note in this area of town the streets are lines with Jacaranda trees that are in full bloom.
After exhausting myself I made my way on foot to the Embarcadero and the Maritime Museum was also having a giant Earth Day Celebration. I boarded the ships and the subs on display and made a decision that it was time for me to become a member of the Maritime Museum. One of the big features of this event was the works of Ansel Adams was on display and the works were positively magnificent.
I think I walked myself well beyond my available energy level and decided it was time to take a break. So I headed to Old Town on the trolley for a frozen Margarita. Naturally Old Town was packed to the rafters with people but I met up with some friends and spent the remaining part of the day eating my way into oblivion with salsa and chips( that might have been affected by the fabulous Margaritas ).
