There's a Talent Search going on!

If you are new to ActiveRain, you may not have seen one of these before. The Unsung and Overlooked Collections are an ongoing search for the new talent that comes to AR everyday. The ActiveRain network has been growing so fast it has become difficult to get noticed when you are new.

Red rain bootsThese articles did not get "Gold star Featured" on the network. Most of them were overlooked. Many of them only have 1 or 2 comments.

The purpose of the Unsung and Overlooked series is to get some exposure for ActiveRain members who are writing good articles that don't get noticed. This is just one member's way of Featuring what I think are great articles. I have read each article in this collection. Each one is worth reading.

There are 23 articles in this batch.

Here's How It Works

Step 1 - There is a blue button in the top, right corner of your screen that reads "Subscribe". Click the button. Good, now you can easily find the future Unsung and Overlooked collections.

Step 2 - Click the link to the collection that is a little further down the page. You will be taken to Collection 3 where you can read the articles and leave comments for the authors. Don't forget to comment! It is very hard to write a blog post and then have it not get noticed.

Step 3 - Come back to this post and let me know what you think! I like comments too!

This really is a great collection. It's one of the best so far. If you are one of the authors in the list, Congratulations! Your writing caught my attention and this post should help get you noticed by the other members of ActiveRain. Welcome to the network.

Here's the link to Collection 3.

Here's Collection 2 and Collection 1. And here's a link to the article that started the whole idea

Enjoy the reading everyone. It's Raining Talent!

Footnote: If you are wondering if this works, just ask Maggie D. She has been a "Featured" author 5 times since her name appeared on the first Unsung Collection on January 16th. Is it a coincidence? Maybe!

Mark - I really appreciate that you do this. I know it takes tremendous time and effort to read as many articles as you do. But recognition can have such a powerful, positive affect on people trying to find their writing voice. Thanks, man!

Mark

I appreciate you including my post in this collection. I have been on AR for almost a week now and the amount of great information I have picked up is amazing. I'm sure the system will grow exponentially as the word gets out, especially with the amount of people like you that are here.

Keep up the good work

Hi Mark,

This is a very time consuming and wonderful thing you are doing here. Thanks for all your effort. It not only helps the newcomers get some of the blogs read, but allows us to actually find their blogs!

BTW, hope your feeling better also, didn't know you were sick:(

Hey Randy :)

It's good to see you stopped by. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Karen: Thanks for the feedback. And thanks for the asking after my health. I haven't been sick. That's just Nick's attempt at humor! He and I kind of took over Colleens blog the other day and he seems to think he got the last laugh. You'd have to read it to understand what he's yammering about :)

Mark, there you go again.  Being that wonderful person you are.  This has got to take you tons of time and yet you still do it.  What a wonderful thing!  I was dutifully reading and commenting until I got to a porno site!  Not from your link but a comment on one of the blogs.  I clicked out so fast!

Your footnote made me smile.  Coincidence?  I think not :o)

Mark, I was like comment 27 or some such thing.  Wouldn't a stalker have that coveted spot closer to the blog?  ::smile::   However, my birthday's in September in case you need some time. lol

And truthfully, those weren't compliments.  Just facts.  You go out of your way to make a difference to all the newbies here.  It's appreciated.

Hey everyone. just stopped by for a second. Mark, from my point of view, I thought you had the last laugh when my 'appraisal' got slammed. I didn't realize I was offensive. Is that what David is reffering to?

Mark, I will remove the link from the bottom of the pineapple blog if that's the case. I was just joshing ya and tying it all together in case someone actually went and read it.
did i miss something? I think I'm lost. let me know. :)?

Hey Nick, if someone thought anything you have said was offensive, it wasn't me! I thought it was all hilarious. We were just fooling around, killing some time. I'll go read whatever David wrote. But, rest assured, you and me are all good. I haven't had anybody to sport with since Craig Schiller went m.i.a and Rich has been scarce.

Oh, you mean the comment on this post! Nah, I don't know what that means. Sounds like a generic comment to me.

Mark - it is great to be able to have one spot to go to to find these gems that can get overlooked.  With so many posts coming up every day, it's way too easy to overlook some awesome posts - thanks for putting these together.  I love being able to catch up on some reading through your posts.

Mark,

Thank you for your input on my latest article. Beyond all the teaching, mentoring, writing and rehabbing, I am just another real estate investor out there doing the daily grind like anyone else.
So to see comments like yours and to be featured, well..... It's an honor. Thank you again.

I remember when I joined Active Rain, I was quite overwhelmed by the welcoming messages.  I had a number of Internet friends from RealTalk, so it was like "coming home".

Funny thing about group dynamics.  You never know where a "JEWEL" will come from, or when.  I rarely read the posts on the Dashboard.  I read the blogs starting with the latest on back.  There's some "jewels" in some of the posts that don't get a star.

I understand what you mean Lenn. I do read most of the dashboard articles, but I usually head straight for "All blogs, no ads". I find some good stuff there. :)

Hey Mark,

Once again, you've done a great thing in helping the members of the community.  We thank you so much for featuring us in your past collections.  I saw that you mentioned that Maggie has received several features and we're really happy for her.  It's nice to see when others are noticed.  It gives us hope and the drive to strive to make the cut.  Although it remains elusive to us, we are still addicted to trying to provide the most quality posts and content possible while supporting the community!  Good job again!
