Tuesday Travelogue-April 28th

By

Welcome to the ongoing weekly series called Tuesday Travelogue. We are in our forty-third week! (I remember the 40s, they were wonderful!)  Each week, some ActiveRain bloggers are spotlighted to take us somewhere we may not have been on some kind of virtual travel (and it doesn't cost a dime!). Here is the purpose:

" to enjoy the ride"

"take a trip without even leaving the farm"

"expand your horizons"

"see through someone else's eyes"

 and hopefully much more!

Today, as we make our way through the "M" states in the US, we are visiting Missouri.

I was hunting and hunting (not with a gun, but my eyes) for localism posts with pictures. Hard to find in Missouri! This was the first one I found:

Missouri cows

Ten Fun Facts about Lebanon MO! I'm always drawn to this kind of title and that "group" photo, I'm all over it! Thanks, Debbie DeFonzo! (Okay, it was 2008, but who cares? Still interesting!!)

Welcome to O'Fallon MO! Don Rogers gives us a nice history of this city including the Civil War. Nice job, Don!

Kris & Kates Ice Cream Treats

Isn't it almost ice cream weather?? This *featured* localism post is from St. Joseph MO thanks to Dona Reynolds. I love the look of this darling "eatery" and if you were driving through St, Joseph, wouldn't YOU stop just to check it out? Kris&Kate's--bring your appetite!

Yvonne Burdette Hiking in Branson, MO  Ha Ha Tonka State Park

Springfield MO is our final destination today. On the right, Ha Ha Tonka State Park--that name alone would be enough for me to check it out! Sounds like there are quite a few things to do inside AND out in Springfield. Thanks for several good photos and interesting localism post, Yvonne Burdett-Van Camp.

Please don't forget to comment on these blogposts and I hope that you enjoyed all of these virtual travels. Feel free to join our group:

Beth Atalay I thought it looked very inviting and obviously it's a Native American name--another draw for me. (You're right--some days I sweat whether or not I'm going to find enough WITH photos!)

Yes, Paul S. Henderson and hopefully your butt doesn't fall asleep, either!!

I too remember my 40's. Lol, lol. I also would want to hike in the Ha Ha Tonka State Park.  Cute post today, Gayle. And, since I don't like to sit in a car for longer than about 2.5 to 3 hours -Bend is my limit -this virtual travel works for me.

Hi Gayle-Our Traveling expert-What a great variety of places you found. I love the name of that park and it would be a beautiful place to visit. Now ice cream I could eat year round. I remember my forties too. 40 and 41 were good but the back went kaput when I was 42.

Gayle - I would absolutely stop at that restaurant shaped like an ice cream cone! Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure Missouri is one state I have never been to.

I've spent some time in St. Louis Mo Gayle and it is definitely a great place to hear the blues!!! And of course, Missouri has the mighty Mississippi River and reminiscences of Mark Twain - it is a bit overlooked!  Glad that you pointed out some lovely sites in your wonderful Tuesday Travelogue column.

Thanks for the trip Gayle.  When on road trips the cone stands are a must.  I started a small collection of goofy road art you see on trips.  This would definitey qualify.  Mark

Love the shot of the Kris&Kates building. Reminds me of how many such buildings of this type there use to be and how few still exist. Thanks for the feature, cheers cvc
