How To Make The Most of Down Time as An Agent

By
Services for Real Estate Pros

Being a real estate agent is much different than an ordinary desk job. There are no armchair quarterbacks in this industry, and if you want to be successful, you need to be working whenever your clients need you most. This seems to be during the evenings and weekends all too often, but it is just a part of the job. On the other hand, this can be very rewarding as the total hours you spend working throughout your professional career can be flexible and less than other management jobs. With the on and off lifestyle that this job demands, it is imperative that you stay active in your down time and make the most of it. Here are a few ideas of how to stay productive during the not so busy times.

If you are looking for more work and clients then marketing will be the best way to spend your time. Read through blogs and ideas from other real estate professionals to see what they are doing and replicate their strategies. This can save you much time and money in testing things, and just jump you straight to results. Just like I am doing now, blogging, and creating a newsletter, is a great way to stay in touch with your contacts while not requiring too much time or money to get started. A simple newsletter solution such as MailChimp can be an excellent place to start.

It is also very important to keep your body in good shape so you can keep up with everything else in life. You may not think you have time for a workout, but a quick walk or bike ride outside can go a long way in your success. It has been proven that taking a break, exercising and getting some fresh air can significantly increase overall productivity even though some time was spent out of the office. This is because your brain functions better and attitude is more positive when you live an active lifestyle. I make sure to get in the gym at least a few times a week.

Sometimes you just need to completely take a break from exerting any effort and relax. This is best done with reading a book or playing a game. Watching television has no positive effects other than allowing you to turn your brain off. At least reading a book or playing a challenging game can help exercise your mind and keep it sharp. My favorite game right now is League of Legends which requires strategy and is incredibly fun to play. I try not to spend too much time on it and buy elo boosting from eloboosted.com to keep my account active and high rated reducing the amount of hours I need to spend playing.

All markets have a season and you need to ebb and flow along with it to keep at the top of your game. It seems as if you've got your systems in place and that's where many associates fail to recognize their benefit. There is always work to do so watch that playtime Doug Johnson
