Things to do in Alameda:  Preview book sale sponsored by the Friends of the Library book sale on Friday, May 1 from 6:30 pm to :00 pm.  Admission is $5 at the DeWitt “O” Club, 641 West Red Line Avenue.

 

Things to do in Alameda:  Used book sale sponsored by the Friends of the Library book sale on Saturday, May 2  from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Free admission at the DeWitt “O” Club, 641 West Red Line Avenue.

 

Things to do in Alameda:  The Alameda’s Farmer’s Market is open to the public Saturday, May 2 and Tuesday, May 5  mornings from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, rain or shine.  All the fruits and vegetables are available at great prices.  So good!  Don’t miss the opportunity to shop for delectable fruits, vegetables and flowers.  The market is on Webster Street and Haight Avenue and is open rain or shine.

Things to do in Alameda:  Spring Fling Carnival on Saturday, May 2 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Lum Elementary School, 1801 Sandcreek Way.  Games and activities for all ages, food, live entertainment and a raffle drawing.  Open to the public.

Things to do in Alameda:  Alameda South Shore Center and Off the Grid food trucks on Saturday, May 2, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the South Shore Center parking lot near Petco.  The trucks include The Chairman, Cupkates, An the Go, WhipOut! Bacon, Bacon, My Shrimp Shack, The Waffle Roost, Hula Truck, Kome Sushi Burrito and Southern Comfort Ktichen.

Things to do in Alameda: Creating beautiful Flower Baskets on May 2 from Noon to 1:00 pm.  Ploughshares Nursery presents a free workshop on planting and maintaining flower baskets at 2701 Main Street.

Things to do in Alameda:  Crab Cove for Family Nature Fun Hour,  “Take a bird walk.”  Afterwards, finds out what’s new at the cove with on Saturday, May 2, at 2:00 pm.  Please call 510-544-3187 for more information.

Things to do in Alameda:  The My Fair Lady Ball at 7:00 pm on Saturday, May 2 at the Alameda Elks Lodge Grand Ballroom, 2255 Santa Clara Avenue in Alameda.  This is a costume ball inspired by the Embassy Ball scene in My Fair Lady and presented by Period Events & Entertainment Re-Creation Society (PEERS).  There will be dance lessons followed by vintage ballroom dance music.  No host bar and a light snack buffet. Historical attire or fantasy costumes are admired but not required.  Tickets are $25 at the door.  Tickets at 510-522-1731.

Things to do in Alameda:  Alameda Point Antiques Faire on Sunday, March 3 from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm.  You’ll have great time people watching, buying cools things, and enjoying great food. Entry fee is $10 before 7:30 am, $5 after 9:00 am. If you haven’t been to the Alameda Point Antiques Faire you are missing a great event.  Located at the end of Main Street at Alameda Point.

Things to do in Alameda:  Sunday, May 3 at Noon to 5:00 pm, Spring Festival Bazaar, in celebration of Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month 55th annual event featuring live music, arts and crafts boutique and children’s games.  There will also be a raffle and cultural activities for all ages.  Free to the public at Buena Vista United Methodist Church, 2311 Buena Vista Avenue.  Please call 510-522-2688 for more information.

Coming events in Alameda:

The Bay Bombers are back at the Alameda Point Gym on Saturday, May 9 at 8:00 pm.  Always a lot of fun to watch and cheer on.  Tickets can be purchased at Ozone at 1431 Park Street in Alameda.

The 15th Annual Spring Festival on Park Street is on May 9 and 10 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm both days.  The Spring festival is for the entire family and is a nice way to celebrate Mother’s Day.  There will be arts and crafts, tasty food and some very entertaining bands.  All for free.
