May is a time when we are preparing for summer to arrive. Between preparing for graduations and end of school events, to getting our homes in order for those summer BBQ’s, make sure to spend some time just enjoying all that the Twin Cities area has to offer. Here are a few ideas for events that are happening this May:

The 41st Annual MayDay Parade and Festival – Taking place on Sunday, May 3 and begins at the corner of 25th St. E. and Bloomington Ave. S., and travels south on Bloomington to 34th St. E., where the parade turns west towards Powderhorn Park. For more information, visit the official website.

MSP ComiCon – May 16 & 17 at the MN State Fairgrounds. The MSP ComiCon is one of the Midwest's largest celebrations of comic book culture. It is a unique, regional nexus of graphic literature and the wildly diverse communities that fuel it, produce it, and ultimately consume it.

Dinosaurs Alive! - Dinosaurs have captured the imagination and fascination of the public. Visitors to Valleyfair can step back in time to the beginning of the “Age of the Dinosaurs” at Dinosaurs Alive! – Visit the website for more information.

TC Kids Cross Country Fun Run - Celebrate the arrival of Spring in Minnesota at the 9th Annual TC Kids Cross Country Fun Run in Saint Paul! This event gives younger athletes a chance to run with their peers and enjoy a fun, non-competitive environment. Taking place on May 16th at 9:00 at Como Park.

NEMAA Presents the 20th Annual Art-A-Whirl – May 15th – May 17th, Presented by the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA), Art-A-Whirl is an open studio tour in Northeast Minneapolis. It’s a great opportunity to tour private artist studios and galleries, connect with the artists, and purchase original artwork.
