Galloway College Choral Club 1930

Fashions come and fashions go and then they come again.

Look at this choral group taken from the 1930 Gallowegian, a yearbook for Galloway girl's college in Searcy Arkansas.  The dress skirts are up and down and reminds me of the droopy tops and bottoms that are today's fashion.  Hair styles are all basically the same in this picture.....as they would be in a today's picture.  One thing is interesting and that is the long skirt on the girl in the front row.  Was she the trend setter for new fashion since she dared to be different?

Definitely the legs are interesting.  Stockings!  Or hosiery if you prefer.  Each girl had on hose.  We hardly ever see hose on any girl today.  I remember a friend telling me several years ago and it does not seem to have changed, "Barbara, my daughter told me that no matter how ugly your legs are you do NOT wear hose!"

These ladies are charming in the 20's style dresses. Wonder how many dresses were bought vs. made.

Good question, Don.  I'm betting these were bought.  They look too fancy to be home made and I see no feed-sack-looking prints.
