I’ve been very blessed to have not only met but to have been able to engage with a number of extremely successful and passionate people who have contributed a lot of amazing things in their different industries.
One of those amazing people was Randi Zuckerberg. I got to hear her speak to an event for an hour and then I met her individually. You know what? If I can describe her in one simple word – I could say that she really was phenomenal – and she’s also a genius!
Ok, that’s two – I know, I’m just carried away.
Anyway, for those of you that don’t know who she is – she’s the sister of Mark Zuckerberg, the creator and CEO of Facebook. Randi was the former head of marketing of the said astonishing company and was the genius woman behind creating the strategic relationships with every major news agency in the 2007 Barack Obama election.
Through that relationship, Facebook became the source of polling during that election. Furthermore, when Barack Obama got elected as our president he referred to it as the Facebook election. That’s what put Facebook on the map.
Not only was that very smart – Facebook become an icon and media source because of such an awesome work.
So I want to share you today, what I’ve learned after speaking with her and what you can learn too that can benefit your business or career.
Create powerful and strategic relationships with companies larger and more powerful than your own.
What Randi spent quiet a bit of time speaking was all about Facebook’s customer experience management.
It’s very valuable and important to them not to disenfranchise their users by putting up unwanted, distracted and improper placements of advertisements inside the social site. Facebook has “lost” money for years because they wanted to build a following, and not just for the revenue itself.
And gratefully, I was doing this system in my business and it served as an important rule for me for years now.
When dealing and negotiating with clients or customers, building authentic relationships from clients will take you to your success spot and you’ll become more productive every day when doing business. Never push people unless they want to move forward.
My belief has always been to create free resources for clients so they can become comfortable with me as an expert and not just looking for sale or profit. I also continue to keep sending them homes and educating them about the things they really want from us and about myself.
I believe that creating that relationship is what has paid dividends to me. Yes, we actually need to earn real cash in our businesses for our daily necessities and prolific living but that could never, ever happen if you don’t build your business for people.
Tell me, what are your ways to keep your clients in touch when you’re dealing with them?
