How do they choose Hurricane names? Hurricane Names for 2015.
The International World Meteorological Organization chooses the names. Originally, hurricane names were women’s names only. In 1979, the list was changed to include men’s names. Six lists are used in rotation. The 2008 list became the 2014 list. A name is removed and changed on the list if a storm was deadly or costly. (Andrew, Sandy). Some names seem to be changed just because: like Fernand which is now Felix.
