I wanted to update all of you on what we're seeing here at Paratex in Seattle as far as pests in 2015.
Seasonally, we always see ants. They tend to come out when the weather warms up. This year it was sooner by about a month as we had a mild winter. Up here we tend to see moisture ants which are not as destructive as carpenter ants, for example.
We also see plenty of rats. Seattle is blessed (or cursed) with the third highest rat population in the United States. Call it our proximity to water or the fact we're so green here (lots of vegetation). Whatever the root cause, it keeps us busy here at Paratex.
Finally, bedbugs are prevalent here. There's really no rhyme or reason. Bedbugs are often brought by people who travel frequently. The key is to catch the scourge early.
