Smarty PantsIn the world of being a REALTOR, Stager, or any service professional, so many of these types tout how much they know. They illustrate that they sell the most homes, been in the business ten years, have lived in the area their whole lives, are tough negotiators, have an artistic flair, whatever...

Guess what? People really don't care. You are being a

        LITTLE MISS SMARTY PANTS

The key rule in defining the benefits to people is tuning into radio station WIIFM or what's in it for me? Wrapping up this thought always remember this phrase:

PEOPLE DO NOT CARE HOW MUCH YOU KNOW UNTIL THEY KNOW HOW MUCH YOU CARE.

It will serve you well to heed this advice.

Oh, that is a smack right between the eyes for me.  I do try to sell some of my experience as a benefit, but you are right, whats in it for me is not the tune I am playing.  I need to change stations! :)

Gary, great statement, most of the time when I first started out as a home inspector I used to tell the realtors all about me, my credentials, my training ect. then I started telling them what's in it for them.  And what they'll gain by using me as their home inspector.  I've also noticed there are a lot more receptive.  Go figure.  Thanks for the reminder.

PS What a cutie in the pictures.

Hi Gary,
First, thank you for commenting on my first blog.  I am now into to day two and wonder why I wasn't doing it before.
I really like your blogs and, YES, it is the most important thing to take care of those you touch, whether it is your client, family, friend, or just the lady you meet in the grocery store.  I was not the type of person who would speak to strangers (guess my mom's teachings were remembered) but now I find that there are very few strangers.  My professional career as an RN has been very important as I am a #1 listener."
Have a great weekend andif you ever come up to the Pacific Northwest, look me up.
