computer screen of Yahoo web siteI wanted to see if I could log on to the internet today.

As you can see from that Yahoo! screen, I was able to do so.

You're no doubt thinking, 'Big deal. So you're on the internet.'

Palm Treo 700p wireless modem - Verizon wireless BroadbandAccess ConnectWell there's actually a bit more to it than that.  I wanted to see if I could do it with my Palm Treo 700p, working as a wireless modem, and using Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess Connect.

Again, you're probably thinking: 'Whoopee, so it works. A lot of people use their phones as wireless modems.'

broadband equipment outsideYes, but I was outside.

My laptop was powered using the electrical outlet in my trunk. I can imagine you're saying, 'So what.'

Colorado - remote locationWell, I was in the middle of nowhere.

I will be conducting e-Closings in the state of Colorado.  The time to find out that you have glitches in your broadband equipment isn't at the closing table. So, as I mentioned in a previous topic, I will be conducting tests in various parts of the state.

The test today was a success. Not only did I want to test the reliability of Verizon Wireless' BroadbandAccess Connect, I also wanted to test the speed of it.  I was very pleased with the results.

mobile printing - Hewlett Packard 1022 laser printerIt was cold and windy today in Colorado Springs.  I don't expect that I will ever get a call to do a closing in a remote location like this.  But if I had to, I would be able.

In addition to the laptop computer and Palm Treo 700p, I have a 800 watt power inverter mounted to the floor, and a laser printer

I could accept a closing assignment, download the documents from the internet, print them, and conduct the closing.  From virtually any location. ...

I welcome you to visit the special page that I have set up on my website that shows my equipment in conditions that are far more favorable than what you see in these photos: Mobile Closing Solutions for Colorado.

I want to be able to provide any type of closing service, in any type of conditions, in almost any location in Colorado.

Here are a few more shots.

Thanks Eric. I just want to make closings accessible to anyone, anywhere.  People live in some pretty remote places here in Colorado.

Leon,

Your posts are always so informative and helpful.

I too have a mobile office and am anticipating performing my first eSigning before the end of this month.

I use a Sprint wireless card with my laptop and an HP3390 with copy/print/scan capabilities.  This setup really comes in handy when you're 20 or 30 miles from home and you get a call for a closing.  It's much easier and less stressful to just pull over into a parking lot to download and print a loan package instead of fighting Orlando traffic to get to my home office so I can print, especially when the closing site is near your current location.

The savings in time and gas is well worth the monthly wireless card charge.  Through trial and error over the past two years, I have figured out where the coverage gaps are in my service area.  Good luck with your continuing tests!

Pam, thanks. Teresa, yes, having a mobile office is a blessing. A real time (and money) saver.
