Why would you move to Smith Mountain Lake?

I have lived in the Smith Mountain Lake Area all my life and watched how this once rural area that was known for good fishing and a great place to go camping, has now after 30 plus years evolved into a Beautiful Lakefront Community with over 500 miles of Fresh Water Lake to Boat On, Go Fishing, Go Sailing, Ride a Jet Ski, Take a Boat Ride and go to dinner, View an incredible Sunset across the lake or wake up to a Beautiful Golden Sunrise across the lake and mountains.   Take a day trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains and hike the Peaks of Otter or Ride up to one of the many Wineries within a few minutes to a couple of hours and enjoy some Jazz or other favorite styles of music, After a day out on the lake go view a movie at the new multi movie theater or stop in and have some Mexican Food (now three Mexican Restaurants) or Chinese Food (now three ), order a Pizza (now three) and many more restaurants to choose from even a Coffee Shop and one of the Largest Diary Queens in Virginia.    Shopping has really changes with then great New Kroger store with Deli, Food Lion, IGA and just minutes away a Walmart Super Store, Applebees, Fresh Market and Ukrops.   Within 40-50 minutes you can go to Three Major Shopping Centers and there are more and more stores opening up in the Westlake/Lake district.

There are so many reasons to live at Smith Mountain Lake, including LOW TAXES.  Bedford County side of the lake is at 50 Cents a hundred of assessment and Franklin County is working on 47 cents per hundred.  Smith Mountain Lake is known as Virginia's Best Kept Secret, but I hope this blog lets a few more people know about
