New cars!
Who does not love one?
This old picture is labeled on the back and that's the reason I know what year and model it was. The people in the picture are never forgotten. This photo was probably made for a Searcy AR High School yearbook. Car dealers were always called on to do a nice ad for the yearbooks and if they had kids in the class they did so proudly. Custom even started dictating that the students show up in the picture.
This picture shows a master salesman and his son. He was called Po Dunc (Vernon Duncan) and sold cars to so many people in White County. His son, called Dude, joined him in the business and was a pretty good saleman himself. Dude says that at that time there were about 7 or 8 dealerships in Searcy AR and they had their association that met and talked business.
Happily, the two girls in the picture still make their homes in Searcy AR. Valerie Smith Canepa and Lana Duncan Clark. And guess what? I just asked Dude, Rodger Duncan, what model car this was and he got it right!!
