An ActiveRain Meet-up is an Event in Wilton CT
This is what I'd call a REAL meet up!
So many of them drove distance to attend this meet up!
It's one of a kind hosted by Dagny Eason - and credit for this original post goes to Ed Silva
Next time around, I'll plan ahead and attend this one. So what if I have to drive 200 miles?
When most others host a Meet-up the attendees are usually very local to the location. When Dagny Eason hosts a Meet-up, it becomes a special event that brings people in from distances just to visit for a few short hours. Such was the case on Thursday night in Wilton CT for the Spring Fling Meet-up hosted by Dagny Eason.
The smiles on these faces shows just how much fun a meet-up offers, and the conversations cover all aspects of the business and blogging, as well as just being social.
For this event, there were the usual local attendees and the dedicated people that really came some distances.
l to r: Jennifer Fivesdale's daughter, Ed Silva, George Souto, Rear unknown, Christie Farrington, Olga Simoncelli, John Anello, Grant Schneider, Janis Borqueta, unknown, Jennifer Fivesdale, Debbie Gartner, Barbara Altieri, Dagny and Kirk Eason, r unknown, Lisa Friedman and Sadie, Scott Webster, Annette Thor, Ginny Gorman, Jim Quarello, and Bob Crane.
Jennifer Fivesdsale came down from the Rhinebeck NY area which aside from Jennifer is also the location of the Roosevelt Library, as it was their home. Janis Borgueta drove over from Newburgh, NY, and both were well over 2 hours behind the wheel.
When our Fooring Girl, Debbie Gartner speaks, all pay attention as she offers insight into making the special Google Juice brew.
Ginny Gorman made the drive over from North Kingston, RI which had to be a strong 3+ hours, but it showed the dedication to attending a Meet-up.
Lisa Friedman also came down from Stowe Vermont, which is not just a casual drive in the country, and fortunately for her, Sadie probably did most of the talking and driving.
The real prize for distance covered goes to Bob Crane who came down from Stevens, Wisconsin, by way of Elkhart IN and Pottsdam NY. He attended the Meet-up hosted by Larry Johnston while coming in to NY state for an appraisal.
He left time to attend our Wilton CT Meet-up and also was expecting to have lunch Fri with our Joe Petrowsky before heading back to upstate NY.
His has a big appraisal to do for someone that owned over 200,000 acres. That's a small country. He will be here for a few months, after all it takes time to count those trees.
At the end of the evening those warm wishes and good feelings made the drives home just that much shorter and for many of us, it was an all smiles ride.
An ActiveRain Meet-up is an event, and it deserves a little bit of extra effort to attend, and forget the miles needed to get there. All will be forgotten when the hugs and handshakes are exchanged and a virtual friend becomes a real person.
