It's "that" time of year again. The time of year when boaters call to ask "how much is this house"? and they have NO IDEA where they are on the lake. If you have a cell phone please snap a photo so you can text that to the listing agent when you call us, that helps a lot! Just ask the agent for their cell phone number to send a text when you call us at the office or even after office hours at:

Caller: I'm calling about your house on Lake Sinclair, how much is it?

Duty Agent: Where are you?

Caller: On Lake Sinclair

Duty Agent: There's 15,000 acres and 417 miles of shoreline, could you please be a little more specific.

Caller: Close to 441

Duty Agent: East or West of 441?

Caller: I don't know

Duty Agent: The side with or without the power plant?

Caller: Without?

Duty Agent: What does the house look like?

Caller: Grey

Duty Agent: Does it have a boathouse?

Caller: Yes

Duty Agent: Is the boathouse enclosed?

Caller: Yes

Duty Agent: Does boathouse have doors?

Caller: Yes

Duty Agent: Did you go under a bridge?

Caller: No

Duty Agent: Sir, do you know what part of the lake you are in?

Caller: Nope

Duty Agent: Okay sir, tell me more about the house

Caller: A-frame, boathouse, walkway, and has an A-frame on each side as well, stone fireplace.

Duty Agent: Ah, you are at Lakewood Drive in Rooty Creek. The price is $275,000.

My agent is gone to show the house right now.

Memorial Day is around the corner and we'll be open! Call us and we'll be happy to show you property.

I always manage to luck out and get the buyers who can't talk. Like they've never spoken on a cellphone before or didn't expect an agent to answer her phone so they mumble, cough into the phone, mix up their words, and can only get out it's a white house with a fence around it. Just goes to show how local real estate is and how we all must operate differently based on our markets, and what clients, or potential clients might want or need.

Thankfully I've never had the call that "it's a glass high-rise" because that would be challenging. But I could ask 'Is there a Starbucks there? Or Publix Market, or Taco Mac?" Then I would know exactly what building they are talking about.

Isn't it funny how often this happens....I get calls "I saw your sign"...and. like you, a few questions asked and answered and we know which home they are talking about.
