Bass Fishing is popular all of the USA.
People spend big money on the sport.
A nice Bass Boat and a truck to pull it along with all the equipment can cost more than some people paid for their home.
For me, I have a nice, easy to handle small boat.
I still have my arms, legs and family jewels.
But some get by with a lot less.
The craft in the following photo, shows that you don't have to be fancy.
But, for me it would require a mandatory life jacket.

My recollection of boyhood in Minnesota (many years ago) is that small mouth bass is king there. Since I have moved to Florida (also many years ago), the large mouth bass is the target most sought after. I have not done any serious fresh water bass fishing since I lived in Minnesota, but have many fond memories of living and fishing on Lake Minnetonka near Minneapolis.
William...that photo is a total crack-up. I cannot imagine staying upright when a fish is pulling...lol

I love to fish, but it's typically Trout or Salmon. I keep it fairly simple and catch the occasional bass or perch by mistake while on the lake, but it's always a good time.
LOL...that is too funny. Is that typical of small of your smaller craft out your way?
I admire this fellows ingenuity, but I may decline any offers of a ride on his boat.
