All Real Estate Agents Need Training

By
Real Estate Agent with Online Real Estate Agent Training

All Real Estate Agents Need TrainingIt doesn't matter how long you have been a real estate agent or how many transactions you have each year, all real estate agents need training.  Not just your typical Continuing Education classes, but additional training.

Laws and Regulations Change

Like most things in life, the real estate industry is constantly changing.  Jurisdiction laws and regulations are updated on an annual basis and to stay out of trouble and retain your license, you need to be trained on those changes.    In just a few months the HUD-1 that we are all familiar with will disappear.  The new Federal document was designed with the consumer in mind.  Although many real estate agents don't like change, this particular document will change so you should get trained on it so you can inform your clients as to how the new guidelines will or could impact them.

The Standard of Practice Changes

If would be kind of silly to think that the way real estate is practiced in the 2015 would be the same as how things were done in the 1960's.  The standard of practice is always changing.  Who would have thought that we would be moving from a 3 page contract to 50 page contracts to paperless transactions?  It would have been difficult to predict, but that is what we are moving towards.  Ongoing training enables real estate agents to stay current to better serve their clients.  This is extremely important since the next generation of buyers will expect to do business primarily online.

A Fresh Approach

There will always be instances when we get stuck in how we run our real estate business.  Stuck meaning that we continue to do the same things in our business simply because that is what we have always done.  This is not to say that what you are currently doing is wrong or bad, but with training you can see if there is a better way to run your business.  When you attend training sessions based on your level of business, you will always walk away with renewed focus and get at least one new idea that you can implement in your business.  None of us has all of the answers.  Training allows you to take some time to look at your business with fresh eyes.  It's also good to see what techniques and strategies other agents are using to grow their business.  It's not that we aren't open to new ideas, it's that we don't take the time to learn and implement them.

I knew an attorney who never practiced anything at all. Attorney so what? You got to activate and then launch into the learning curve experience or what do you really have?

As a former Biology teacher, one of the first lessons that I taught each year was what denotes a living vs. a non-living thing.  One of the first things is that a living thing must be changing.  No change = death!

Changes and updates are much easier to incorporate into our mode of operation if done on a regular basis.  Waiting too long to embrace an accepted change will impact business.

Hey Candy!

Awesome post with phenomenal resources you listed!

I dropped the ego about 7 years ago when I got crushed by the maket.  I realized I had to evolve.  Since then sooooo many opportunities have presented themselves to me.

I give myself 3 hours a day of Personal Development.  That includes the gym, reading, chatting with a mentor or volunteering.

Great read!
