In Front of Buying a Home “Have All Your Ducks Lined Up.”

Before you plan on buying a home, you need to know that buying a home is a complex process. Buying a home is a smart wealth-building plan especially for those that end up doing it right purchasing their dream property for their long-term needs. In order to set yourself up and plan accordingly for this major event, you will want to follow a few essential steps before buying your home.

Have your financing in place. Before you start looking for your new home, you will want to meet with a qualified lender. In advance of buying a home, you need to know your credit score, and you need to know the approximate price range you need to be shopping in.

Meeting with a lender accomplishes both goals. A lender will advise you where you stand as far as your credit score “as well as” they will let you the price range you should be looking in. Once you have your financing in place, you are ready for the next step.

Next you will want to find a REALTOR®. Buying a home is a major purchase and one of the largest investments you’ll make. To do it right, you need to work with REALTOR® and have a professional guide you through the entire process and get the best professional advice. And here’s the best news. A buyer agent gets paid for by the seller and works for you free of charge.

When it comes to finding a REALTOR® you want to work side by side with, don’t be shy. Go ahead and interview a few REALTORS®, find one that specializes in the specific area you want to target. It is also important to verify their BRE number and make sure that their license is in good standing with the department of real estate. Once you have picked your REALTOR®, now you are ready to move ahead with confidence.

Finding the right home isn’t easy, that’s why it is important to have patience and take your time. You should survey and research the areas you are looking to buy in and know exactly what you want. It is important to remember, once escrow closes it is too late to change your mind.

Besides being patient it’s important to be realistic, too! In most cases, in this day and age, trying to steal a home is not realistic. Holding out for an “incredible deal” can prove to be a very costly mistake. After all your preparation and efforts to find your dream home, you don’t want to let it slip away because you were too focused on slamming the seller.

Like I mentioned at the top, buying a home is a complex process and that’s why it is essential you have all your Ducks in a row in front of the home buying process “as well as” be prepared all the way through the entire home buying process. The key to your long-term successful real estate ownership is all about education, proper planning, having a professional by your side, and making smart decisions.

I noticed the lead duck in the process wasn't the "go see an Open House" duck.

When you get your ducks lined up, and they want to cross the Washington DC street, this will work:
