Our Active Rain Meetup in San Antonio, TX today at Willie's Ice-house & Grill was one of the best ones we've ever had, since we were honored to have Mary and Dave Yonkers come in all the way from Erie, PA. Plus, Jason Crouch and Bill Austin made the long drive down from the state capitol in Austin, TX.
We got a chance to chat with Mary and Dave, and share some of our real estate experiences, as well as tell a few war stories between Dave(Retired Navy) and myself(Retired Army). It always amazes me to hear how real estate is done in other places. The requirements to get a license are different, and the escrows are done differently too. I can see and understand why you need to have a license in each and every state if you plan to do business there.
We had a chance to talk about blogging in our group, and discovered that some of us were not blogging or commenting as often as we used too. It was a consensus that posting on Facebook was a lot easier than blogging, but we all acknowledge the importance of blogging, and what it had done for our businesses. Active Rain is still the BEST place to be for networking and referrals, and we all agreed.
Putting togeher a good post for your blog does take some time and effort, but it's worth it in the long run, since folks are readying them and the phone continues to ring. I can't think of a better forum for professionals in our industry than being on Active Rain.
In additional to our visitors from our of city, our locals at today's meetup were Wayne Johnson and Brenda Mullen, and of course, yours truly. If any Rainers are planning to come to San Antonio, give us a call or send us an email, and we'll make the effort to round up all the Rainers in the area for some good old social networking.
