So you have had a great weekend and you get to start the week one day later! Congratulations!
All that means is that you have one less day to get your work done this week!! LOL
Anyway, it’s Tech Tuesday and we want to tell you about one of the latest gadgets out there and see what you think!
Let’s talk about Outlook! Microsoft Outlook….you know the client you use to get and send email? The one you still have no idea of what power it holds? The one who can merge data bases into emails to personalize your email? And did you know you can create incredible stationery in Outlook to keep that business branding going?
Well, Outlook has some new features coming in addition to everything they already offer:
Inbox: Currently there isn’t much you can’t do in your inbox. You can filter messages, create folders for just about any reason or purpose there is and assign rules to those messages so they reach the correct folders (even if it is Junk or Delete permanently).
Sweep: Use Sweep to delete or archive email messages from your inbox or other folders. You can delete or archive all email messages, or all but the most recent, from one or more senders. You can also choose to block, delete, or archive future email messages from those senders.
Move To: To move a few messages to another folder, select the email messages, tap or click Move to, and then tap or click the folder you want to send them to. You can even create a new folder during this process. Tap or click New folder, enter the name of the new folder, and then tap or click Enter.
Instant Actions: With Outlook.com instant actions, you can flag messages for follow-up, delete them, or mark them as read with one click. You can also create and add your own instant actions, or remove the ones that you don’t want.
Now these are NOT the upgrades! They are tools you already have!
The Upgrades Include:
Redesigned Inbox: Yep. You already have all the functions you ever thought you would need or use (mind you there are many more that are not used because nobody know they are there!), however; I digress….The new Clutter tool. First rolled out last year for business users, Clutter is a lot like Gmail’s priority inbox feature in that it automatically sorts messages based on what it predicts will be most important to you. Cool huh? But I’m not sure if Outlook would really understand what is important to me. Maybe I’m look for airfare instant notices and they decide I don’t need a vacation right now. I need clients. (Rats)
Addins: Microsoft is also launching its new “add-ins” feature, which allows third-party apps to run within Outlook. Currently the “Add On” feature allows you to install and run outside apps but this integration will make it easier to use with fewer break downs.
Also coming to the palette of features are improvements to the search feature, link previews and image previews and inline image support.
Skype. Skype and OneDrive are also going to be more closely integrated with Outlook.com. Users will be able to start Skype calls or chat with Skype contacts from within Outlook and easily switch between the two interfaces (Skype and Outlook). You’ll also be able to convert email attachments into shareable links with OneDrive.
[Speaking of OneDrive, who knows what it is and how it can be used? Another day, another feature!]
Calendars: Outlook is upgrading their calendars with improved features that make events searchable by name, attendees, location and description.
These are just a few of their improvements but when you are trying to save time, these upgrades can make a big difference. A few changes can save you a lot of time and REALTORs need all the time they can save!
What other tools do you use that would be helpful to learn more about? Let us know. Technical Tuesday is not for my benefit! It’s for yours!
